  Brookite \Brook"ite\, n. [Named from the English mineralogist,
     H. J. Brooke.] (Min.)
     A mineral consisting of titanic oxide, and hence identical
     with rutile and octahedrite in composition, but crystallizing
     in the orthorhombic system.
