  Bornite \Bor"nite\, n. [Named after Von Born, a mineralogist.]
     (Min.)
     A valuable ore of copper, containing copper, iron, and
     sulphur; -- also called {purple copper ore} (or
     {erubescite}), in allusion to the colors shown upon the
     slightly tarnished surface.
